Haircare
As a stylist, I collaborate with clients in consultations, conduct original research to build individualized treatment plans, and infuse styling appointments with education by modelling healthy practices and explaining each step.
All services are administered carefully, taking into consideration the age of the client, their experience with previous stylists, tender headedness, and history of hair trauma.
Please book a consultation to begin our work together.
Upright Shampoo Service
This adaptive service involves shampooing the clients entire head, beginning with the scalp, in the comfort of an upright chair or sitting comfortably on the floor. I provide an absorbent floor covering to capture excess moisture. The client is fully draped in a cape to protect clothing.
Hair and scalp are wetted down using a spray bottle. I cleanse the scalp section by section of any ordinary oil, flaky debris, and product buildup. Strands are then lathered up. Hair can be rinsed in the sink or shower. Procedure is repeated if necessary.
Intensive Shampooing
This is a more rehabilitative version of the standard service that includes scalp buildup removal and rehabilitative treatment for freshly exposed skin. Techniques include using mechanical exfoliators like natural sugar or salt scrubs, small bristle brushes, silicone scraping tools and natural chemical exfoliators like apple cider vinegar, witch hazel, and SBS Hairapy Lemongrass Detox Powder.
Since intensive shampooing can strip healthy natural oil, there may be additional nourishing treatments to close the cuticle, strengthen bonds, and replenish the protective oil and acidic layer between the scalp and environment.
Advanced Detangling
I provide a pre-shampoo treatment that detangles mats and removes knots while retaining as much healthy hair as possible. Detangling is scissor assisted when appropriate, usually when dead hair is trapped in an un-removable knot. Acidic products are used to dissolve natural and unnatural material trapped in the hair (caked product, un-rinsed shampoo/conditioner, sebum, partially shedded skin, and many more contributors to the glue-like mixture that locks in tangles). Possible acidic products include apple cider vinegar, witch hazel, and commercial products that provide slip. This service can also comb out locs. Like in most circumstances, but in this service more than others: There is no quote for how long. a service will take. Expect multiple appointments across a week (minimum) to give our bodies enough rest along the way.
Routine Shampoo and Conditioning
This refers to cleansing and conditioning that can be accomplished in one visit, typically in less than 4 hours. All treatment plans begin with the appropriate level of cleansing before conditioning. When needed, an appointment will pause at a natural stopping point until the next appointment scheduled with appropriate recovery time to minimize fatigue and reversion of progress so services do not have to be repeated.
Deep Conditioning, Bond Building, & Reconstructive Protein Treatments
I use a variety of necessary moisturizing, fortifying, bond building products to rehabilitate your hair and maintain the integrity of your strands. Shampooing your hair allows me to observe how it reacts to moisture and helps me identify your hair's weakness or areas for improvement. These observations are most important for those who have a history of heat or chemical treatments.
Available treatments include protein and keratin reconstructors, henna, bentonite clay masks, and commercial products like the Aphogee and the Olaplex systems.
Upon booking, feel free to text me about what you're interested in trying so I can make sure to have those products in stock. I will also make any natural recipes in advance in my Vitamix. Microloc Retie and Refresh
This includes a retie of the perimeter and parting space on a full head of microlocs. Full head reties are not available for new clients. When done, they must be done in rotating sections across several appointments. Please email for more information.
Basic Loc Retwist for Small or Larger Locs
This includes palm rolling, comb coiling, and locsmithing. I use an oil and water method using Jamaican Black Castor Oil by GoldiLocks NC.
Braid Prep
I will do a full wash and preparation for a braiding service by another hair professional. Hair can be stretched using a blow dryer with minimal product to support that professional's choice of braiding products.
DIY Braid Prep
This process is the same as braid prep service, with the additional step of parting the hair into sections and rows. Hair can be rubber banded at the desired parting size to support rubber band method and other crochet techniques.
Model Calls
I offer this service when I am looking to practice a technique or experiment with new products and tools. These services are given at a slight discount with an agreement that the goal is to understand products or tools and practice a technique. The finished product will reflect a novice’s grasp of the technique or experiment.
Crochet Services
These may be available in the future to existing clients to give fair opportunity for assessing the condition of the hair, appropriate long-term styling prep, and understanding of the density of clients hair versus the look they want to create.
